Volunteer FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I log my volunteer hours?

To log your volunteer hours, go to prehealthshadowing.com and sign in to your account. Then, go to “Volunteering” → “Log-In Hours for Volunteers” and fill out your information.  Please Note: Volunteers cannot earn volunteer hours by going to live sessions. The “Live Session” checkbox is for team members only, as they help to run the sessions. We will not certify volunteer hours for attending live sessions or watching previously recorded sessions.

Can I earn volunteer hours by watching live shadowing sessions?

No, you cannot earn volunteer hours by attending live sessions or watching previously recorded live sessions. However, you will still earn shadowing hours for doing so (provided you pass the end-of-session quiz). The hours can be used on healthcare applications, but make certain with your program before doing so.

What is the difference between a Volunteer and Team Member?

Both Volunteers and Team Members volunteer their time to support Pre-Health Shadowing. However, a volunteer has more flexibility in terms of their commitments with Pre-Health Shadowing tasks. You are able to set up your own schedule and contribute as your schedule allows. A team member works directly with the board and Lead of Pre-Health Shadowing in meeting strict deadlines for weekly tasks and program projects.

Is there a minimum time commitment expected of me as a volunteer?

We do require that all volunteers log at least one hour per month in order to remain part of Pre-Health Shadowing’s volunteer team. However, certain projects may require a greater time commitment. Log in to your account at prehealthshadowing.com and go to our Volunteer Hub to see the time required to participate in each of our projects.

Who else will I be working with?

You will volunteer alongside other like-minded students who are interested in entering the healthcare field.

Do I have to be a pre-health student to volunteer with Pre-Health Shadowing?

No! We welcome students in any field who would like to contribute to our program.

How do I access the volunteer training?

To access the volunteer training, log in to your account at prehealthshadowing.com. Then, go to the training module and enter the password. (This password is NOT the same as your account password). You will receive the password through your email. Make sure to press “complete” at the end of every section, and “finish course” once you have completed the entire training.

What types of things can I do as a volunteer?

There are many projects that you can become involved with as a volunteer. To see the different projects and time commitments associated with each one, please visit our Volunteer Hub (make sure you are logged in to your account first).

What are some other benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering and joining different departments and participating in volunteer meetings with Leads are great ways to get to know them and gain possible letters of recommendation
